At the very beginning of the spring season in 2019 right about two weeks, before the pandemic put the whole universe into an unexpected lockdown, GoldenEd took the initiative to host a mini soccer event at Pomfret High School in the state of Connecticut. With the help and support of the Pomfret boys’ varsity soccer program, GoldenEd managed to put together a 6v6 soccer tournament where students and faculties with different athletic experiences had the opportunity to participate. We had participants with basketball, lacrosse, tennis, and hockey backgrounds playing in the tournament to help raise funds in order for GoldenEd to complete its third shipment and distribution of basic school supplies to its partnered primary and junior high schools in Ghana.
The mission of the organization is to empower students from underprivileged backgrounds by equipping them with basic Academic materials to develop skill sets that will help them become ambassadors for their respective communities and the continent of Africa at large. Therefore, the success of this event place GoldenEd a step closer to fulfilling its mission. Thanks to Pomfret High School and their boys’ soccer program for allowing GoldenEd to use their facilities, and thanks to all the participants, your effort, enthusiasm, and commitment is much appreciated.
